The update is based on Android 4.3 and will bring in a few tweaks

I recently told you that users of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z were experiencing some screen flickering issues after updating to Android 4.3, but Sony didn’t say anything about providing a solution.

Nevertheless, the company announced it had started rolling out new firmware for three of its phones, including the Xperia Z, and the official Twitter post said the same treatment would be applied to the Xperia Tablet Z sometimes the next week.

Based on Android 4.3, this update will supposedly bring some improvements for Bluetooth connectivity, battery and the performance of the YouTube app. Moreover, the firmware will update some of Sony’s own apps too.

Sadly, there’s no mention of something related to the flickering issue I’ve been telling you about. Anyway, Sony might want to start working towards bringing the KitKat update now, but for those who can’t wait, there’s always the possibility of trying out the official AOKP 4.4.2 KitKat Nightlies on the tablet.
