Today, UK mobile phone carrier Three UK announced the upcoming availability of Sony Xperia S on its airwaves.

The handset has just been made official at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and is set to become available for purchase in the coming months.

The new Sony Xperia S was unveiled with a large a 4.3” HD Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine on the front, capable of delivering great viewing of photos and videos.

The smartphone is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core application processor, which should enable great multitasking capabilities, making app switching and web browsing very easy tasks.

On the back, the new mobile phone features a 12 megapixel photo snapper with Exmor R sensor, capable of shooting great images even when in low-light conditions.

“The Sony Xperia S brings the best HD technology straight into the palm of your hand,” Sylvia Chind, head of handsets at Three, said.

“Plus, with an impressive 12 megapixel camera, it’s perfect for fast-fingered photographers who want to upload images straight onto Facebook making the most of Three’s fast 3G network.”

The specifications list of this Android 2.3.7 device also shows HD sharing with HDMI (cable in-box), along with 3G and WiFi connectivity capabilities, NFC, and 32GB of internal memory.

Moreover, the new smartphone boasts a unique, stylish design, which should make it even more appealing than its specs could.

“With a truly unique design, the Sony Xperia S boasts an illuminating transparent strip that not only looks great but helps users get to the features they want quicker than ever,” Three UK explains.

The same as the Xperia ion, the new Xperia S smartphone comes with access to great content from the Sony Entertainment Network, including a global catalogue of 12 million unique songs via Music Unlimited, or great Hollywood blockbusters and TV shows via Video Unlimited.

The Xperia S is also PlayStation Certified, which means that high quality smartphone gaming is being delivered to users, along with access to the PlayStation Store.
