Sony confirmed last week that Xperia ion would finally land in Europe sometime in September. Although the smartphone was officially unveiled about six months ago and was slated for an AT&T release, Xperia ion only hit shelves in Taiwan.

However, it appears that Europeans will be able to grab a slightly different version of Xperia ion. While the AT&T model will be packed with LTE support, the upcoming variant available in Europe will come with HSPA support.

Even though Sony originally confirmed that Xperia ion would be available in two color options, black and white, it appears that the Japanese company added a new red-themed version.

Keep in mind that Sony Xperia ion in red will be launched in Europe, as the handset maker mentions that this is the HSPS-only model. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
