Quite an interesting move

Sony isn't very happy around this time of the year, as its PlayStation 3 console doesn’t seem to register the sales its executives would want, but faith is not lost. As we've reported on several occasions, the Japanese company is still very confident in its PS3 and will continue to back it up by any means necessary.

Now it seems that one of these means is by teaming up with various retail store chains in the fight against the use of clamshell packaging for various electronic products, including game controllers or peripherals. For those of you who don't know, clamshell packaging is a measure against shoplifting, in which the electronic product is encased in a hard plastic cover that can be quite difficult to open.

Although it is employed by quite a lot of producers and has proved its efficiency, a lot of people have started to militate against this thing, as it produces unwanted stress to the average users, forcing them to use some very sharp things just to get to the product they spent their hard earned money on. But now, Sony says that it is very close to announcing an alternative to the difficult clamshell packaging method, which won't be as troublesome and will still prevent people from shoplifting the products.

On the Sony Electronics Blog, a representative of the large corporation states that, “I know consumers, including myself, get annoyed about how difficult they are to open. In fact, they typically can’t be opened without the use of a sharp device of some kind. Sony is working on the matter and I expect we will have a new alternative to announce soon.”

So there you have it, all those days that we spent trying to pry open those difficult plastic packages will come to an end soon, thanks to Sony. Let's hope that the Japanese company will come up with a versatile solution and that we won't have to use a knife anytime we want to unwrap our new acquisitions.
