The company does not exclude the release of Windows Phones

Sony hasn’t released a new device running under Microsoft’s Windows Phone for a couple of years, but it appears that this might indeed change sooner or later.

The mobile phone maker is still open to Windows Phone, even if it appears to have long moved away from it.

In fact, Sony's Product Marketing Manager for the Xperia line, Stephen Sneeden, already confirmed that the company might actually bring such a device to shelves, a recent article on PhoneArena reads.

For the time being, the company does not appear to have specific plans on the matter, but that doesn’t mean that it is not open to releasing Windows Phone devices.

The handset vendor is open to working with the mobile platform, but it might take a while before a Sony Windows Phone is launched.

Apparently, the company is not convinced that the OS is as important as Microsoft would have us believe. Stephen Sneeden even said that people do not really care about the OS, and that this is why Sony hasn’t launched a device powered by it as of yet.

Other handset vendors appear to disagree, as they already released Windows Phone devices. Dell, HTC, LG, Samsung and ZTE would be included on the list, along with Nokia, which has adopted Windows Phone for its entire smartphone lineup moving forth.

Some of the latest rumors suggested that Sony might be considering the release of smartphones powered by the upcoming Windows Phone 8 platform release, and that they would arrive this year.

Sony has yet to confirm such plans but, by the looks of it, we should not be surprised if it didn’t release such devices.

Windows Phone is picking up Steam slowly right now, and Microsoft and Nokia, along with other manufacturers who adopted the OS, still have a lot to work to prove it can become the leading OS analysts already predicted it would be.
