Sony, the company which manufactures the PlayStation family of gaming devices and publishes video games for them, has launched a new and interesting bundle on the United Kingdom market, integrating a PlayStation 2 gaming console in a new 22 inch, 720p capable Bravia television set.

The Sony KDL22PX300 is said to be specifically designed to fit in smaller places, making it ideal as a second television set or for the very dedicated retro gamer.

The gaming platform is integrated in the stand of the TV and includes a complete package, with the specifications saying that the new device has two PlayStation 2 memory card slots, two ports for controllers and two USB ports which are in front of the television set, with another USB slot in the back, presumably for content which will not go through the gaming console.

The PS2 disk drive, which allows the buyer to also play music CDs and normal video DVDs, is covered and the Bravia set also offers an internet video feature allowing customers to get access to some on demand media.

The entire package is listed for sales at 199 British pounds, which is roughly equivalent to 315 dollars.

Considering the fact that the gaming console included is a PlayStation 2 and the small size of the television set to which it is attached, the new package could be seen as a test bed for a possible Sony integrated future.

If the package works as designed then Sony could take the step of integrating the newer and more powerful PlayStation 3, probably in the Slim version, with one of its top of the line television sets bearing the Bravia brand.

As long as the package sells for a lower price than the two pieces of electronics cost separately, it could be an attractive proposition and broaden the player base.

The company could even integrate the gaming platform with an actual 3D capable TV set for those who want to get an even more modern experience.
