According to the latest news on the Web, Sony Ericsson is getting ready to enter the Korean market with its Xperia X1mobile phone. This Windows Mobile smartphone is supposed to prove competitive on a market that is somehow dominated by the “local” companies, namely Samsung and LG.

Undoubtedly, the Xperia X1 handset is a rather appealing device, yet other companies have also tried to enter the market with their own handsets tailored for the Korean users. For what it's worth, they went there with rather older models, like Motorola's RAZR 2 or PEBL or the Nokia 6210 Navigator without GPS capabilities.

According to Sony Ericsson, it has spent over nine months of hard work along the South Korean telecom provider to prepare the device for the market. The Xperia X1 model that would go to the country has been adapted to be able to fulfill the needs of the users in the area.

The mobile phone maker also states that Korea is the only country that would get its own personalized Xperia X1 version, as well as a customized set of Xperia panels, which include “My Smart panel,” “Daum panel,” “My PC Panel” and “”SBU panel.”

Among the other new features that the Korea-exclusive Xperia X1 handset would include we can count a 4GB microSD memory card that comes with the Spiderman 3 movie preloaded on it, as well as an additional battery and a charging dock.

The Korean Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 variant is expected to retail for about $530 (800L Won or EUR 420). And since Korea can be considered one of the most advanced mobile phone markets in the world, as Samsung and LG have their own high-end devices in the area, it should be rather interesting to see how Xperia will manage to make a stand in the country.
