Not too long ago, Sony Ericsson announced that they aim at becoming the leading manufacturer of Android-based smartphones in the world, and it seems that the 9 smartphones running under Google's OS that the company is aiming at launching would help it achieve this goal. In addition to the Android devices it already unveiled during the ongoing year, the company would make even more of them available during the ongoing year.

Moreover, it seems that the handset vendor is set to target the high-end of the market with them, though specific info on what to expect from these devices lacks at the moment.

The already unveiled Android smartphones from the company are as appealing as they can be as well.

For those who might have missed previous reports on this, we should note that the company announced four new smartphones this year, including the Xperia arc, Xperia neo, Xperia pro, and Xperia PLAY.

Among them, the Xperia PLAY seems to be the most anticipated handset, with enhanced gaming capabilities, being the first phone in the world to earn PlayStation certification.

The handset is expected to become available in a wide range of markets around the world, including the US, where it would be launched on Verizon's airwaves (the carrier won't have exclusivity on it, and an AT&T version was already spotted at large).

Recently, Xperia PLAY was confirmed to arrive on the market in the UK as of March 31st, priced at £500 SIM-free.

Apparently, Sony Ericsson is set not only to bring more Android phones to shelves, but also to increase its presence on certain markets around the world, such as the United States.

This is not the first time we learn that the company would have such plans, but exact details on the matter are not available for the time being. Hopefully, the phone maker would unveil more on its next Android devices soon, so stay tuned for more.
