Sugar, spice and everything nice...

Technology spawns lots of ideas. Some of them are nice and some are ingenious, others are funny and crazy, while others are mad. One of the latest "fabrication" for mobile phones is Sony Ericsson's screen wipers.

Yes, you've read well... Screen wipers. They will not be some specimen wipers to pimp your car with the "SE" trademark, but they will be simple phone screen wipers. If you're tired of having your fingertips printed all over your screen every time you take out your phone, this could be the solution to your problem.

This innovation comes in handy for all those who want their multi-colored, bright and shiny screens to be seen as they are, and not blurred from greasy hands. But a question remains. How efficient is this application?

According to Sony Ericsson's patent application, the wiper will slide on the display and then it will couple to the opening mechanism of the phone. So, when the phone is open, it will keep its position at the top of the screen. As you close your clamshell phone, the wiper will move to the button of the display, cleaning the screen at the same time. The cleaning procedure will be made once more when you open the phone again.

Fine, we understand the clamshell phone wiping process, but what about the slider phones? It seems that the same process can work on these phones, as well. When you open or close the keyboard of your mobile, the wiper will move through the display, wiping it clean and shiny.

Still, a question remains: is this wiper a nice, genius, funny, crazy or a mad idea? At the moment, it looks funny and even practical, but then again, a quick wipe on your sleeve should do the trick against any disturbing fingerprints that may lay on your precious phone screen.
