A low-end stylish clamshell

A while ago Sony Ericsson had announced the Z310 stylish clamshell that will be released in two versions, the Z310a available in the USA and the Z310i for the rest of the world.

Now the Z310a has been approved by the Federal Communications Commission and it will be heading on to the US very soon. The Z310a comes in a clamshell form factor with a semi-transparent shiny finish and it looks like it's meant to be a more affordable low-end version of the Z610.

The phone comes with EDGE support, a web browser, RSS reader and an e-mail client. It has MusicDJ that you can use to create and manage ringtones as well as a sound recorder, a 65k color screen with 128 x 160 pixel resolution and an external monochrome screen.

Other features include a basic VGA camera, MP3 ringtone support, Bluetooth and Infrared for connectivity and 15MB of internal memory.

There's no card slot for memory expansion but users wouldn't really need it since the phone doesn't have an MP3 player or anything else that would require more space for storing files.

Basically, it comes with a nice design, and even though it has fewer features than the Z610i for example, it will probably be much more affordable.

On one charge it will last up to 7 hours of talk time or 300 hours on standby and will be available in three colors, Jet Set Black, Blush Bronze and Lush Pink. There is no information on the availability or the price of the Z310a so far.
