Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has been long rumored to plan bringing to the market a new smartphone that would run under Google's Android operating system while packing impressive gaming capabilities, the PlayStation Phone, aka Xperia Play, and some more info on it emerged recently. The upcoming mobile phone, unannounced for the time being, but expected to become official sometime in February, was featured in two videos recently, and also got a tear down treatment.

Phandroid found the first video embedded below on YouTube, and they note that the Playstation application loaded on this device could easily bring all the Playstation games to the handset, providing users with the gaming experience they might have been looking for.

Moreover, the news site points at some details that the video seems to unveil, which fuel speculation such as the possibility that Sprint would launch the mobile phone, or that Google TV would also be integrated with the device.

Also in the rumor side, we can count the fact that Xperia Play might land on Orange UK's airwaves when brought to the market, a recent article on MobileToday reads.

No info on when the new device might become available at Orange emerged, but the news site states that the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month is the place where it all might become official.

However, these are not the only pieces of info that emerged recently on the upcoming mobile phone.

Last week, the handset was spotted into the wild in an in-depth preview on a Chinese site, and it also emerged in a video showing off its gaming capabilities. You can see it playing Resident Evil 2 and Rage Racer in the second video embedded below.

For those who are interested in how this device looks on the inside, a series of tear down photos with it are available here.

Running under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system flavor when released on the market, the new device should prove a great option for those fond of gaming while on the go.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is expected to pack a 1GHz Snapdragon Qualcomm processor complemented by 512MB of RAM, a built-in gyroscope, and traditional Playstation buttons on a sliding pad.
