Sony Ericsson seems to be pretty busy with the development of a new range of high-end mobile phones that would run under Google's Android operating system, and a new one has been spotted into the wild today, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc.

Both press photos and video presentations of this device are available for your viewing pleasure, which suggests that the official announcement on this handset might be very very close.

In fact, it might be so close that the previously reported on announcement regarding the launch of a Sony Ericsson Xperia X12 device, set to take place today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas might be about this very handset.

Boasting a very slim design, the new mobile phone brings forth something that should make it even more appealing, namely a concave backside, thus the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc moniker.

The Nexus S might have a curved touchscreen display, but this behemoth is expected to pack a larger one, 4.2-inch, and a much thinner body, as the photo to the left shows.

The new mobile phone, which might not be a different device from the Sony Ericsson Anzu, was brought to the web by Gagadget.ru (via Engadget), where the aforementioned press materials with it emerged, accompanied by a series of specifications that would certainly make enthusiasts rejoice.

Among them, we can count a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, as well as the said 4.2-inch touchscreen display, which should boast a 854 x 480 pixels resolution.

Moreover, the new device should sport an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with HD video recording capabilities, microSD memory card slot, a 1500 mAh battery, HDMI port, and Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on top of them all.

For what it's worth, the handset seems to be pretty appealing, both on the outside and on the inside, though it remains to be seen whether all of the aforementioned details on it would actually prove real or not.

Since the phone is expected to make its official debut at CES 2011 in Las Vegas, it should not be too long before more accurate info on it is made available, so keep an eye on this space for more.
