Just a couple of days away

We've been waiting for this mobile phone's official release for some time now, not that it's a spectacular handset, but because so many rumors have popped out that it's about time the actual phone should show up too.

Sony Ericsson made things even worse by offering some photos of the W880i that revealed practically nothing of the phone. The only thing that you could tell by looking at those photos was that the AI is really slim.

And while we've seen a lot of leaked photos with this phone (even if the first few leaked photos weren't of the actual phone), after the W880i's FCC approval the feature list has become pretty clear too.

The phone will come with a 1.8 inch 262k color TFT display with a QVGA resolution, a 2 megapixel camera RSS feed support and 3G support. Since it's a Walkman phone, it will also sport Music CD Walkman player 2.0 software and a Memory Stick Pro card slot for memory expansion.

According to Swedish site NYA!mobil, who have managed to get their hands on the actual device, the AI W880i will finally come out on Tuesday, the 6th of February, so we won't be kept waiting for much longer.

Besides, the FCC's approval suggested that the phone's release would happen pretty soon. And finally, there are some live photos of the phone allowing us to see exactly what the phone - that Sony Ericsson seemed to want to keep secret - looks like.

Just like all other manufacturers, Sony Ericsson has also started focusing on providing more affordable handsets, and hopefully the W880i will be one of them, offering some nice multimedia features for a lower price. All we can do is wait for the official launch in order to find out more about the handset as well as the price it will sell for.
