Sometime in the future

Sony Ericsson has had some while ago a PSP phone concept patented, which showed a clear interest coming from this company in what mobile gaming had to offer. The idea will take shape in the near future, as such a device has all the chances of being launched in the future.

At the time when people got thrilled over Sony Ericsson's PSP phone, the company actually denied ever planning to bring it out on the market. They claimed that the Walkman and Cybershot line of phones make a priority and that investing in a Playstation handset is quite unlikely to happen.

Things have changed since then, it seems, as Peter Ahnegard, the Partner Manager Games and Graphics at Sony Ericsson revealed some surprising plans for the future. It looks like the company is definitely considering the high potential of mobile gaming. All their handsets have come with games installed until now, nothing new in that, and the same will happen in the future.

There are low chances for a special line of gaming phones to be launched, but the company will be using this feature at best standards in its future devices. A PlayStation branded mobile phone coming from Sony Ericsson is something that the company is really looking forward to developing sometime in the future, although it is uncertain when exactly that will happen.

They have not made the step of launching such a device until now, as it would have had little to do with the brand's evolution line that it has managed to score until now with their Walkman and Cybershot phones. The company must have seen Nokia's efforts in this line of devices and considered that it was time for them to keep up with the current trend. The fact that they are making efforts towards achieving this is obvious, but the time when results will come out on the market is still unknown.
