The new Sony FF MILC models will not replace the current A7/A7R cameras

It appears that Sony has planned great things for 2014, and the latest rumors come to confirm just that. The Nippon manufacturer will present a new full-frame mirrorless camera later this year.

Dpreview user Waimak has posted a photo from a Japanese magazine, which shows a mockup for a future series of Sony mirrorless cameras that will be placed above the current A7 and A7R models.

The new Sony A9/A9R are rumored to pack a 54MP full-frame Exmor CMOS image sensor, dual BIONZ X image processor, and dual memory card slots. By the looks of it, these will be two killer cameras that will further challenge the current high-end digital SLR models.

If this is true, I guess we'll also see a 54MP Nikon D800-series DSLR soon, since the current D800/D800E models feature the same 36MP sensor found in Sony's A7/A7R interchangeable lens cameras.
