Will Wright (the creator of Spore and The Sims) and Electronic Arts have thought of a great idea to make a contribution in helping out developing countries. What they're hoping to do is to distribute a free version of an open source version of the original SimCity for the $100 One Laptop Per Child's XO computer.
Whiu, saying all that got all the air out of my lungs. Now, where were we? Ah yes, the 100 dollar laptop.

Also known as XO-1 and previously as the $100 Laptop, it is a proposed inexpensive laptop computer intended to be distributed to children around the world, especially to those in developing countries. The reason for this is providing children with access to knowledge and education in the modern way. The laptop is being developed by the One Laptop per Child (OLPC) trade association, which is an U.S. based, non-profit organization created by faculty members of the MIT Media Lab.

Sim City on the other hand is a different matter all together. Why do you suppose they chose this title? In this game, as the name suggests, players simulate real-life actions. They can mark land as being zoned as commercial, industrial, or residential, add buildings, change the tax rate, build a power grid, build transportation systems and many other actions, in order to enhance the city. Also, a player can be faced with preventing disasters (whether they are natural ones or man-made, or even extraterrestrial made), or if they occur, a player must solve the aftermath.

Good to know that every once in a while games aren't labeled as killers or gateways to porn. This time, a game will help under-developed countries. Take that authorities-banning- videogames!
