Silent Hill 2 Movie On The Way

SHARE:

Adjust text size:

I don't know if the first Silent Hill movie is any good, but apparently, talks about a second film, the series are underway. This is revealed by the movie's director, Christophe Gans
in an interview for French website DVDRama.

You probably know that the first Silent Hill movie is a big box-office success when it comes to 2006 horror movies. In the year's horror movies box office classification it comes in third, just after Saw 3. In the interview, the French director reveals that with the next Silent Hill movie, he wants to correct the mistakes he made with the first one. He admits that Silent Hill 1 was a difficult film to make, since it was necessary to organize a complex mythology which is not known to the general public (I guess it's tricky to make a movie based on a game popular to the masses).

Gans explains that there is a possibility for him not to be the director of the Silent Hill 2 because of his Onimusha plans. When asked who would be the best candidate for a Silent Hill sequel, he responded that his movie should be kept out of Hollywood. Maybe it will be best for the Silent Hill franchise if the next movie remains European, French in the best case. At least that is what Christophe Gans thinks.

No further important information is revealed, such as who will be the star of the next movie, when is it going to be released, which is the budget for this feature film, or any other not so important aspects. I'm not a huge fan of the games, and this is why I haven't seen the movie. Given the fact that it just came out on DVD, maybe I'll treat myself with a late horror Christmas present.

I honestly think that Slient Hill 2 should be brought to America,
if only made for Europe. I am sure alot (and i stress the word alot) would love to have the movie here.

Alot of movies are already made in America, it makes a nice change to have some movies made in Europe.

Gans was misquoted. I read that entire interview from it's source and what he said was that he wanted the director to be French or at least European. The movie would definately be released in America.

Also, it was the best horror movie I saw that year.

I would love it if silent hill 2 were american but here's where they will always screw up. You see just the way silent hill is, making it into a movie will be almost impossible, silent hill is so grotesque and obscene on so many levels that in the cinemas, it HAS to be lightened. Don't get me wrong, silent hill 1 was definitely disturbing, but also the addition of pyramid head was a total mistake for fans. without the actual reason for pyramid to be there there's no point not to have him in ALL the movies if they continue the series.

Technically, though Pyramid Head was in the game, he was there not only as a side of James he didnt want to see, but also as the executioner of the people who made silent hill what it was. So he could be there forever if thats brought up. I do hope however, that the movies arent continuations, and are somewhat vaguely linked, like the games. I would love for the next one to be a SH2 Game-to-Screen film.

i agree if they do as the games and don't continue from the last movie that would be sweet!! especially for the fans of the games who know what is going on. they should make a unrated version that is just as bloody and crazy as the games. Directors cut!!!!!

i liked the first silent hill movie.
but to be honest, it was kind of a let down.
if your gonna make a movie based on a videogame, it has to exactly how the game was.
i dislike how they changed the main character into a women.
im not sexist or anything.
but the games are awesome and by changing something like, ur ruining it.
the should have stuck with the same characters and everything that is in the first game.
thats just my opinion.
as for the second movie, i think that sean bean would make a great james sunderland.
but, he was in the first film and was a different character so that wouldnt work.
IF PEOPLE WANT TO MAKE MOVIES BASED ON POPULAR GAMES, YOU CANT CHANGE ANYTHING!
LEAVE IT EXACTLY HOW THE GAME WAS MADE!!!
and because the first film was not exactly like the game,
i am very disspleased with it.
dont get me wrong, i love the film,
but if it had been exactly like the game,
i would be much happier and pleased with the film.
the fact that it wasnt exactly like the game,
pisses me off and almost makes me not want to see the next film.

So you'd waste $8 to see the movie knowing exactly how it ends?

That's an utter waste of time and creative resources. I don't want to watch a gussied-up game I've already played. Where's the logic in that?

I hope they stay true to the Silent Hill mythos this time around.

Mmmm...for my own opinion, i guess the movie is ok from a stand out point. Meaning, if the viewers does not play the original silent hill games, then it is googd for thier viewing pleasure, but in our end who are dramatically inclined with the game, i think the judgement will decline to disappointment.. since all silent hill fans were expecting that it would be exactly the same as the game...anywayz, will see what happens on silent hill 2.

So you think the Silent Hill movie ended the same way the Game did?

Go play the game, idiot. The game has multiple endings, none of which are the same as the movie's ending. ;/

Let Hideo Nakata (The Ring) direct it.

I think they should make a silent hill to for us in america because i really like silent hill 1 and in the end since the little girl opened her eyes theyre in a parallel world. So they should make one of the husband or someone finding them and bringing them back.. or something i dont kno but i hope they make a silent hill 2..

Hi guys ! Here's my opinion: If you're going to make a movie from a psychologic and horrific game like Silent Hill, you need time and a lot of it to develop and share the sickness of that game and I think Gans and his crew did not wanted to spend that time to make it perfect. I'm a Silent Hill fan ever since 1999 with Harry and I've always said that someday someone will make a movie out of it and scrap it all ! There is no way you can change the sex of the master character, a guy is not a girl, not phisically but mentally, so it changes the perspective. And who the fuck is Christabella ! If I were Konami I would not give head to Gans for the Silent Hill sequel !! Sorry man but you did not understand SH and the essence of it. The movie would have been better if they were respect that.

I just want to know if the movie is going to be in English...I like foreign films, but silent hill was based in Virgina...I think I spelt that right...anyway, so I think it should be in english, why would someone in Virgina be speaking french?!...think about.

I read somewhere what the next Silent Hill movie was going to be about it...It's going to be sharon (which now calls herself Kara) and her boyfriend get trapped in a mall or something and somehow make their way to Silent Hill and her boyfriend then discovers theres more to her or something. And it's suppose to come out in 2010. Personally i loved all the games and was very happy when they made a movie because it was great. And i can't wait til Silent Hill 2 comes out! :)

Those Who played the SH Game series they completely noticed that the SH2's (game) story Was not matches the previous version even the next one,so if you guys just think a little more about the story of first movie you will find out it can be very easy to make SH2 .in SH2(game) you seeing a man who looking for his wife, and it could be just like that in the movie.but i have to say that ...its not so easy to making this because SH story is very deep and confusing and if someone wants to be good at it...,..FIRST... he have to understand it and feel it..... (if any one have any idea,it will be great to hear.thanks)

No, making it only for Europeans is not an option. If there is going to be a part 2, it WILL be in America. It makes no sense just to let a portion of the world see it. THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY GETTING WASTED!!!

Comment #15 by: Totter on 16 Aug 2010, 22:59 UTC reply to this comment

1. I loved the game series but honestly I don't want to pay money to see something I have already played, and know all 5 endings to.
2. They probably are only showing it in Europe because us as fans are always complaining about something wrong with a game based movie.
3. The movie has to appeal to all audiences, fans and newbs alike and it is very difficult to please everyone so lets just be thankful someone at least had thought about, and had an idea of putting a movie out there for us to view.
4.The Escapist video game review on SH5 reminds me of this new plot to make a couple run around in silent hill. In keeping as close to the main plot without confusing newbs lets not throw a lovey dovey couple in the mix. It's about being alone in a creepy town, not alone in a creepy town with your sex mate.

The first movie is very good, but the first movie of Silent Hill; Gans will not be doing it, Roger Avery is and he is involved in a accident where his friend was killed, he will be sentenced on the 29th of this month and the movie is mostly likely start the shooting of SH2 next year when it's suppose to release into theatres next year.

There should definatly be a sequel to Silent Hill, I've been waiting 4 years for one. This is the only horror movie that sent chills up my spine, because the monsters in it are ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS altered by a little girls wish for revenge, My favorite movie, right here :)

Comment #18 by: Tiny on 15 Feb 2011, 08:00 UTC reply to this comment

I think when they say the movie should be kept out of Hollywood and for it to remains European or French, they meant they want to keep the filming of the movie out of Hollywood. If they meant for it not to be released in America they would say that it wouldn't be released in America not "keep in out of Hollywood" I've never heard of America being called Hollywood ever.

I liked the movie, it may not have been a duplicate of the game, but I don't think it should be. I don't want to know ahead of time what's going to happen. I do think the original creators of the game and producers should work together to keep the integrity and intent of the games there. anyone else think the same?

is silent hill 2 going to be at the movies or dvd and if it has been out since 2006 then why is the second one not out now

Comment #21 by: PankoP0P on 05 Nov 2011, 11:45 UTC reply to this comment

The movie had duplicated almost every character from the 1st and 2nd game. How can they fit all the characters from 2 completly different game stories in the same movie. If you ever played the 1st and 2nd game, you know how different they are, but it seems that some people including those who created and watched the movie had no idea, so they think that the 2nd game is a sequel from the 1st game story, if those people were not so lazy to play the game before creating or watching the movie they would see all the mess it has turned. If you don't want integrity with the original story of the game why use the same characters or even the same title, so they can fool us of course and steel all the glory from the game and ruin everything we enjoyed on the game's original story. How can Konami sell their name to those hollywood american money makers that don't know anything about creativity nor legitimity. Why did the same thing happened with Resident Evil. At least Resident Evil had one original japanese animated movie made by Capcom. Why can't Konami do the same as Capcom, and make a Silent Hill movie based on the original story continuing the one from the game, and leave the hollywood one to the lazy ones who don't wanna play the game.
