Onimusha or Silent Hill?

I don't know if the first Silent Hill movie is any good, but apparently, talks about a second film, the series are underway. This is revealed by the movie's director, Christophe Gans in an interview for French website DVDRama.

You probably know that the first Silent Hill movie is a big box-office success when it comes to 2006 horror movies. In the year's horror movies box office classification it comes in third, just after Saw 3. In the interview, the French director reveals that with the next Silent Hill movie, he wants to correct the mistakes he made with the first one. He admits that Silent Hill 1 was a difficult film to make, since it was necessary to organize a complex mythology which is not known to the general public (I guess it's tricky to make a movie based on a game popular to the masses).

Gans explains that there is a possibility for him not to be the director of the Silent Hill 2 because of his Onimusha plans. When asked who would be the best candidate for a Silent Hill sequel, he responded that his movie should be kept out of Hollywood. Maybe it will be best for the Silent Hill franchise if the next movie remains European, French in the best case. At least that is what Christophe Gans thinks.

No further important information is revealed, such as who will be the star of the next movie, when is it going to be released, which is the budget for this feature film, or any other not so important aspects. I'm not a huge fan of the games, and this is why I haven't seen the movie. Given the fact that it just came out on DVD, maybe I'll treat myself with a late horror Christmas present.
