Verizon Wirless customers who are interested in the purchase of a new mobile phone from the company now have the possibility to ask for help from their friends when it comes to making a decision.

The wireless carrier has just announced that it added new functionality to its Facebook page, so as to offer users the possibility to ask for advice from their friends.

Before deciding on one mobile phone or another, users will find it simple to receive feed-back from their friends on devices, the wireless carrier explains.

“Verizon Wireless has turned to Facebook to create a series of unique features on the Verizon Facebook page to help fans share information and receive feedback from friends before picking up the latest piece of technology,” the carrier notes.

On its Facebook page, the wireless carrier added a “Shop Tips” tab, so that users can create polls that can be published on their Facebook walls, so that friends will be able to provide feedback easier than before.

On the “Shop Tips” tab, users will find the “Ask a friend” feature that will enable them to send messages to their friends to receive thoughts on devices. Users will be able to send technical specs of phones and other details as well.

Moreover, the wireless carrier offers users the possibility to easily go to the Verizon Wireless page to purchase a new device by clicking on a link from the said Facebook page.

“Everyone has someone in their group of friends who is the technology expert, their go to person to ask an opinion before picking up the latest technology,” said John Harrobin, Verizon Wireless vice president of marketing.

“Using these tools, customers can use a social media platform they are comfortable with to quickly gain insight from friends and share expertise.”

The Verizon Facebook page also displays a fun smartphone glossary, created in partnership with Someecards, which offers simple explanations of various smartphone terms, including 4G, LTE and Apps.

“This latest effort by Verizon really demonstrates how a brand can take advantage of our platform to create a meaningful and social experience for consumers,” said Carolyn Everson, vice president of global marketing solutions at Facebook.
