Since it hasn't been doing very well, it is cutting its losses

Among all IT companies, there are some that aren't doing so well, because of poor sales, unfortunate expenses, poor financial planning, or any combination thereof.

Sharp is one of those companies, although it is doing its best to stop being.

All it has tried so far failed to work though, or at least failed to make enough of a difference. Even Samsung's investment didn't pull it back in the black.

That is why, Asahi Shimbun reports, it is going to start a new management plan, one that, unfortunately, includes firing 5,000 people.

Most cuts will happen outside Sharp's home market of Japan, but the Osaka center will be downsized as well.

Meanwhile, the company will try to improve its TV sales, even launching 70-inch 4K UHD TVs, among other things.
