Sanyo Katana Eclipse is the name of the latest released handset in Canada. The new Katana is being sold by Bell Mobility, the second largest Canadian mobile, and it comes as a pretty small clamshell that refreshes Bell's line-up of Sanyo-made devices.

The prices for which Bell is offering the new Katana (both online and in-store) are as follows:

- $49.95 with a contract agreement for three years;

- $99.95 with a two-year contract;

- $224.95 with an agreement for only one year;

- and $274.95 for those who don't like contract agreements at all.

Katana Eclipse's features are kind of on the basic side, but the handset will probably attract users mainly with its look as well as with its reasonable price.

Presented as a phone with "powerful music capabilities", the new Sanyo comes with digital audio player, dedicated music controls on the external case, Full Track Music downloads and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and EDR. Moreover, the clamshell features a 2 inch TFT internal display with 65K colors, a 1 inch external display, "customizable lighting effects", a 1.3 Megapixel camera with digital zoom and video recording, Web and email capabilities, Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger, voice dialing, a 2-way speakerphone, USB, stopwatch, alarm clock, world clock, countdown timer, calculator, calendar and To Do list. The exact dimensions and the battery performances of the handset are currently not known.

The internal memory of Katana Eclipse is of only 10MB, but the phone is capable of supporting memory cards of up to 8GB; thus, users can actually have a huge storage space for their music, photos or videos.

Sanyo Katana Eclipse will be released in the US too, via Sprint, so if you're in the States and you like Bell's new clamshell, wait for August 17, when the handset is said to make its way to Sprint's retail stores.
