Fire department officials clarify that the pilot and passengers of a small two-engine plane crashing in Santa Monica yesterday are presumed dead.

"This was an unsurvivable crash," Santa Monica Fire Department Capt. John Nevandro describes, according to a report by My Fox LA.

The plane is registered to a 63-year-old man from Malibu, whose identity is yet to be disclosed. He has a pilot certificate, but there is no information on whether or not he has been flying the plane.

The owner is the Creative Real Estate Exchange corporation, with headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta.

The Cessna Citation crashed into a hangar at Santa Monica airport in California, on Sunday, at 6:20 p.m.

It had taken off from Hailey, Idaho, home to several luxury skiing locations.
