There's no denying the fact that if you value your data a RAID storage device comes as an absolute necessity, Sans Digital just refreshing their TowerSTOR series with two new RAID solutions that should be able to cater to the needs of most home users and small business out there.

As you have probably guessed for its name, the TowerSTOR series comes as a tower storage solution, both of these units being able to take up to five drives, the TS25CT being compatible with 2.5-inch HDDs and SSDs while the TS35C supports 3.5-inch drives.

However, both of these units support a wide number of RAID modes, including RAID 0, 1, 10, 3, 5 and JBOD, this support coming thanks to dedicated hardware chips.

As a result both of these units provide users with high transfer rates, Sans Digital touting read speeds of over 200MB/s and write speeds of up to 170MB/s.

Of course that these will also depend on the drives that you have installed inside the units, Sans Digital providing the TowerSTOR series with a high speed eSATA port.

Unfortunately, USB 3.0 and Ethernet support are nowhere to be seen, although Sans Digital has added FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 to the features list.

Both units come with hot-swap and hot-plug support, the drives being installed via individual front bays, every bay coming with a pair of LED lights that report on the drives condition, dedicated software being also available for real-time monitoring of the volumes.

As far as pricing in concerned the TowerSTOR TS25CT is available for $700, the unit coming without any included storage drives, so users have to purchase their own.

On the other hand, the TowerSTOR TS35CT is available for $660 in its diskless form, this time a $1,750 being available that comes with five 2TB hard drives to provide users with a maximum of 10TB storage space. (via electronista)
