Sprint and Samsung Telecommunications America have decided to collaborate in an attempt to break the Guinness World Records mark by organizing the largest mobile-phone donation in a single location. The event will take place between 15-18 April at the Samsung Mobile 500 on the Texas Motor Speedway, Fort Worth, Texas.

Samsung Mobile and Sprint have launched two different recycling programs for used mobile phones. Samsung Mobile's goal is to collect and recycle one million mobile phones by the end of the year through its March to a Million program, while Sprint has launched the Recycle for Victory program. All types of mobile phones are accepted for recycling.

Sprint's Recycle for Victory program aims to drastically reduce the number of wireless devices that usually end up in landfills, by accepting batteries, accessories, data cards, wireless phones regardless of their model, make or condition. The proceeds will be donated to Victory Junction, a campaign that brightens the lives of children suffering from chronic medical conditions, by giving them the chance to take part in activities in which they would otherwise not be able to.

According to the officials, “Every NASCAR fan that donates an old mobile phone during the Samsung Mobile 500 race weekend will receive a limited edition 3D Samsung Mobile 500 pin, and, if donated before Sunday, be entered to win the following incredible prizes: Get the opportunity to be the Honorary Grand Marshall to Announce ‘Gentleman Start Your Engines.’ Ride in the TMS Samsung Mobile 500 Pace Car. Visit the Victory Lane and get an exclusive view of the TMS Samsung Mobile 500 winner.”

The winners will be announced on Sunday, April 18 at the Speed Channel Stage, Gate 3, just before the start of the Samsung Mobile 500 race. Participants that bring more mobile phones for recycling can greatly increase their chances to win one of these amazing prizes. NASCAR fans that don't have a mobile phone to donate for recycling can spin-to-win lots of fun prizes and also receive a pre-paid postage envelope that can be used to mail-in old mobile phones to be recycled.

Those interested can bring their handsets on Thursday, April 15, from noon to 5 p.m., on Friday, April 16, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Saturday, April 17, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Sunday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
