14 DAY TRIAL // Korean manufacturer Samsung and German football team Bayern Munchen FC have just announced the launch of the Samsung Wave Bayern Munchen Limited Edition smartphone. The special handset will be available across Germany, by the end of December for EUR 429.
This is not the first Samsung handsets related with one of the most popular sports in the world, football.
The handset manufacturer previously launched the Galaxy S and Galaxy Apollo Ajax Editions, as well as Samsung S5560 Anelka Edition, also known as Samsung Player 5.
In terms of specs the limited edition smartphone does not differentiate itself from the standard variant of the S8500.
However, in addition to the standard features, Samsung Wave Bayern Munchen comes with a pre-installed FC Bayern Munich application, as well as free access to T-Mobile’s “LIGA total!” mobile TV service for three months.
Also, football fans who purchase the limited edition get a €65 voucher, which can be used to buy various products from the Official FC Bayern Munchen Online Shop.
Obviously, Bayern Munchen football team fans will be the first to buy the limited edition handset, even just to get the voucher.
Samsung S8500 Wave standard edition was launched back in April and is one of the best selling bada OS phones.
The smartphone is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor and runs on Samsung's bada mobile platform.
It sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face, smile and blink detection, image stablilization, touch focus, as well as video recording capabilities (720p@30fps).
The S8500 Wave features a 3.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and scratch-resistant surface.
Other highlights of the smartphone include: TouchWiz UI 3.0, HSDPA 3.6 Mbps, HSUPA 2 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP support, GPS with A-GPS support (Samsung Mobile Navigator), 2 GB internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
