Samsung's flagship device Galaxy S came to the market in the United States via more than one wireless carrier in the country, including AT&T or T-Mobile, which received the device as Captivate and Vibrant, respectively. The handsets arrives on shelves with various GPS issues right from the start, and Samsung already delivered a fix for the problem.

However, in case there are some devices still plagued by this, Samsung has announced the availability of a new solution for the matter.

The company came up with an application called GPS Restore, which, as its name suggests, was meant to restore the GPS settings to their original state.

“Samsung has released an application that restores GPS settings to recommended factory defaults for optinum performance,” the company notes on its support website.

Whether the company blames various carrier settings for messing the GPS capabilities of its Galaxy S devices or not, it remains to be seen.

For the time being, the company is set to offer a solution for the issues that made many of its Captivate or Vibrant users quite unhappy. As for the cause of this problems, the company does not offer specific info.

“There are a variety of enviromental variables to take into consideration when evaluating how to improve the GPS experience as well as device settings. Android comes with two important settings that should be selected to improve GPS experience,” Samsung notes.

Enabling the "Use of Wireless Networks" and "Use GPS Satellites" should be enabled. Also, updating the device software and performing a reset may help with a problem. Please look for the line breaks below for things to try out.
