Samsung Galaxy Tab, the first Android-bases tablet PC that Samsung Electronics brought to the market during the ongoing year, is now available for purchase on the US market via mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless too.

Starting today, US customers interested in the purchase of this device would find it available on the wireless carrier's website priced at $599.99. Verizon has put the new Android slate on sale on its website here.

Verizon Wireless and Samsung went official with the availability of Galaxy Tab on the carrier's network ever since last month.

However, Big Red is not the first operator in the US to get the slate, as T-Mobile already put it on sale on its airwaves, with a $399.99 price tag attached to it, upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement.

The specifications list of Samsung Galaxy Tab includes a 7-inch TFT screen that boasts a WSVGA (1024 x 600 pixels) resolution and touchscreen capabilities, which “has a bright and clear display for the ultimate viewing experience.”

The tablet PC is powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, which offers enhanced support for multimedia functionality.

“With super fast 3G download speeds and a powerful 1GHz Hummingbird processor, the Galaxy Tab provides a full suite of entertainment on–the–go. Enjoy easy access to gaming, social networking, videos, music, web and more,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

The slate also sports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options, as well as a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front for video calling, in addition to the 3.2MP photo snapper on the back.

Not to mention that the tablet PC sports a wide range of applications and services pre-loaded, and support for more applications, available for download via the Android Market.

“With an onscreen virtual keyboard, threaded text messaging, work & personal email, plus Swype text input technology, the Galaxy Tab provides the ultimate in messaging options in a fun and easy–to–use design,” the wireless carrier also notes.
