Samsung Galaxy S, the high-end Android-based mobile phone Samsung brought to the market during the ongoing year, is set to soon make an appearance on Orange UK's airwaves. The handset has just been listed on the wireless carrier's website, in the coming soon page, and although specific details on its launch are missing, it shouldn't be too long before users have the opportunity to purchase it.

Orange UK is not the first carrier in the UK to have the high-end Samsung Galaxy S available on its network, yet the phone's launch with it suggests that more options would soon be available for UK mobile phone users. With a 4-inch AMOLED touchscreen and Android 2.1 on board, the new device should prove to be one of the most appealing handsets out there pretty soon.

“See the world in HD with the Samsung Galaxy S. Behind the massive 4-inch touch screen is a 1GHz processor for fast internet connection, a 5-megapixel auto focus camera and full HD recording for crystal clear video - plug it into the TV and show off your work. Android 2.1 gives you access to thousands of apps to make life easier and an impressive list of top-end features are packed into this slender phone,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

The specifications list of the new handset includes a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with HD video capture capabilities, 3G connectivity, A-GPS support, accelerometer, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, FM radio, built-in GPS receiver, music player, and a battery that can offer up to 6.3 hours of talk time, or up to 24 days of standby time. The new Samsung Galaxy S measures 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm and weighs in at 118g.

As stated above, there are no specific details available on when the new device is put on sale at Orange UK, but the carrier unveiled that it should be available for free on select monthly plans. Keep an eye on this space for further updates on the matter. The phone can be seen at Orange UK here.
