Last week we reported that the Galaxy Pro was available for pre-order from a major online retailer for Rs. 12,290 (about $278), unlocked and SIM-free. It appears that the estimated availability of the smartphone suffered some modifications as the phone has already started shipping.

Initially slated for release in the third week of April, Samsung Galaxy Pro is now available for purchase from Indian online retailer Flipkart.

However, those expecting to get the smartphone for a lower price will probably be disappointed, as the Galaxy Pro is priced at Rs. 12,290, the same price announced a few days back when the phone was only up for pre-orders.

Officially introduced last month during the Samsung SEA (Southeast Asia & Oceania) Forum in Singapore, the Android-powered smartphone becomes available on the market much earlier than expected.

Even though it's a bar phone, it targets business users thanks to its Blackberry-inspired look, including its full QWERTY keyboard.

Although the phone's hardware is not on par with its stylish design, the Galaxy Pro is likely to attract potential customers who are looking for a low priced smartphone that offers a smooth texting experience.

In addition to its four-row QWERTY keyboard, the smartphone is expected to be delivered with the latest TouchWiz UI, optical trackpad, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, as well as proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

The HSDPA-enabled smartphone comes with an average 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen with 262k colors support and a 320 x 240 pixels resolution.

The smartphone is powered by a single 800 MHz processor and runs on Android 2.2. It also sports a mediocre 3.0-megapixels rear camera, which lacks a LED flash and autofocus capabilities.

The phone's 1350 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 610 hours (430 hours for 3G) of standby time or up to 11 hours (6 hours for 3G) of talk time.
