14 DAY TRIAL // South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung reportedly released its first and only Android-powered mobile phone, the Samsung i7500 Galaxy, onto the Taiwanese market on Monday. The smartphone is available for purchase via wireless carrier Taiwan Mobile and should face great competition from the mobile phones the local handset maker HTC Corporation has released under the Google Android operating system.
The newly launched Samsung Galaxy was announced a few months ago and is reported to be capable of overtaking the first two Android handsets in the world, the HTC Dream and Magic. The device comes with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, coupled with a 5-megapixel photo snapper, and also sports a wide range of features, among which we can count an internal memory of 8GB.
Interestingly enough, it seems that the Samsung Galaxy should prove a great competitor against HTC's Hero, which will be released in Taiwan on Tuesday. The Hero comes as the third Android device HTC launches into the wild and is expected to become available in the country via mobile service provider Chunghwa Telecom, PC World reports.
For comparison, the HTC Hero will come to the market with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display and with a 5-megapixel camera as well, while also packing a wide range of other features. The main selling point of the Hero, however, seems to be the user interface HTC featured it with, known as the Sense UI, which should provide users with a brand-new experience.
Samsung's i7500 Galaxy is already available for purchase in a series of markets around the world, and it seems that its maker plans on delivering it on even more in the near future. It should be rather interesting to see how it will perform on HTC's homeland market, especially with the launch of the Hero set so close in the future.
