Regional carrier SaskTel has confirmed that it will soon start retailing their fifth Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Gio.

The smartphone has just been added by SaskTel to its 'Coming Soon' page, which means that its launch is imminent.

Although the carrier does not mention the phone's release date, the Galaxy Gio will be available for purchase for as low as $99.99 with a new three-year contract.

Other pricing options for the Android smartphone include: $199.99 with a new 2-year contract or $229.99 with a new 1-year agreement.

Those who wish to avoid being tied by a long term contract can purchase the Galaxy Gio for a suggested retail price of $249.99.

However, it appears that Virgin Mobile deal is much better, as the carrier offers the Galaxy Gio for free with a new 3-year plan or $149.99 outright.

Samsung Galaxy Gio is powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and sports a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus, geo-tagging, smile detection and video recording capabilities (QVGA@15fps).

On the inside, the device is equipped with a Qualcomm QCT MSM7227-1 Turbo processor clocked at 800 MHz and only 158 MB of users’ memory.

However, those in need of more storage can add a memory card via the included microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The Galaxy Gio has a 3.2-inch multi-touch capacitive display with 16 million colors support and 320 x 480 pixels resolution, as well as accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

The handset does not feature a secondary front-facing camera for video calls, instead it offers HSDPA (7.2 Mbps) and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, including Wi-Fi hotspot capability.

The Galaxy Gio's 1350 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide users with up to 610 hours (up to 460 hours for 3G) of standby time or up to 11 hours (up to 7 hours for 3G) of talk time.
