Samsung has recently announced the upcoming availability of its new series of Galaxy Tab slates and the first tablet to go on sale is the small Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.

According to SamMobile, the South Korean company plans to launch two versions of Galaxy Tab 3 7.0: 8GB and 16GB.

In the same piece of news, Samsung is said to prepare a slightly bigger Galaxy Tab 3 slate, which will be officially unveiled in the coming days.

Dubbed Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, the tablet has just been leaked online via SamMobile and it looks exactly like the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.

However, the former features a thinner bezel and a larger display. The tablet is also known as Samsung SM-T310 (3G) and SM-T311 (Wi-Fi).

Just like the first Galaxy Tab 3 tablet, the 8.0 model will be available in two versions: 3G and Wi-Fi only. Both variants will be packed with 16GB of internal memory.

The good news is that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 will ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

In addition, the slate is rumored to come equipped with a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).

The tablet will also sport dual cameras: a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

As the name suggests, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 features an 8-inch WXGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1280 x 800 pixels resolution.

Other highlights of the unannounced 8-inch tablet include: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, HSPA+ 42Mbps (3G model), microUSB, 3.5mm audio jack and GPS with A-GPS support. The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 will be powered by a 4450 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

Keep in mind that these preliminary specs have yet to be officially confirmed by Samsung, so take this piece of news with a pinch of salt. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
