Although Samsung said that its super 5 megapixel G800 phone will have the official release at the beginning of 2008, the phone hits the market earlier, in November 2007. What's really unique about Samsung G800 is not the 5 megapixel that its camera has, but the fact that it also comes with a 3X optical zoom, being the first mobile phone with a camera of such quality. If you thought Samsung G600 (also equipped with a 5 megapixel camera) was great, well, Samsung G800 is even greater.

Besides the 3X optical zoom, G800's camera brings a new Graphical User Interface and offers a 4X digital zoom too, auto focus, Xenon flash, multi shots, panorama shots and macro shots, as well as mobile TV features like video editing and sharing.

Samsung G800 comes in a slider form and, when closed, measures only 101 x 51 x 19 millimeters. It has a big 2.4-inch 262K color QVGA display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The 3G handset includes HSDPA, EDGE and GPRS technology as well as microSD support, to increase its memory when necessary. G800 also brings mobile blogging functions, Internet browser, Yahoo! and Google searching etc.

Mr. Geesung Choi, President of Samsung's Telecommunication Network, declared: "As multi-megapixel camera phone becomes more and more popular, the needs of actual digital camera-like features grow together. Samsungs G800 will satisfy the unmet needs in the camera category with a true digital camera-like design and functionality. The G800 will enable users to capture and share precious moments in their daily lives through the enhanced camera functions in a fast 3G network."

There are no specifications about Samsung G800's price yet, but we know it will be available in Europe from November 2007, coming with an important advertising campaign. Well, it deserves it.
