Major carrier Verizon Wireless is about to add a new handset to its portfolio of cheap feature-phones. Samsung Brightside is an affordable slider that is expected to hit shelves next month.

According to the folks over at VzBuzz, Samsung Brightside comes with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a decent 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen display.

As we already mentioned, this isn’t a smartphone, so expect to see this one priced aggressively low. It won’t come as a surprise if Verizon will offer the Samsung Brightside for free on select plans.

For the time being, there are no additional details on the phone’s specs sheet, but it will probably go unnoticed given the carrier’s pretty busy launch calendar for the next two months.

Rumor has it that the messaging phone will be officially announced in early March, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
