Verdict is delayed for procedural reasons, probably due to the larger suit in the US

Samsung and Apple are fighting each other over the right to make tablets, the right to use certain patents and alleged copyright infringement in several parts of the world, but South Korea has decided to take a break.

The South Korean Court overseeing the conflict between Apple and Samsung in the country has been put on hold for “procedural reasons” until August 24.

This has happened even though a verdict was supposed to be given on Friday, August 10, 2012.

No actual explanation has been given, but everyone is thinking the same thing: the judges want to see how the large battle in the San Jose, California, USA court concludes.

Last we heard, Judge Lucy Koh was getting angry at both sides, though mostly at Samsung.

Samsung has the most to lose because of this, especially in South Korea. Apple doesn't have much of a presence there, so it would be disastrous if it beat it in its home market. It would be “symbolically terrible” according to local legal experts.
