Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) has announced at the CTIA Wireless 2009 show in Las Vegas that it will introduce a new set of rich connected mobile applications meant to run on the company's family of TouchWiz touchscreen phones, and that it will do so in partnership with Yahoo, Google and AccuWeather.com.

The new rich connected mobile applications are meant to offer users a customized and personalized mobile experience, and the company announced that they would come pre-loaded on select Samsung Mobile touchscreen devices. Since said apps are organized within the widget tray, users will be able to position them onto the phone’s home screen easily, by expanding the tray, thus benefiting from one-touch access to applications such as Yahoo! oneSearch, Google search or whether information from AccuWeather.com.

Samsung Mobile is bringing the leaders in news, web search, finance and weather to our customers with the addition of these new connected mobile applications,” said Omar Khan, senior vice president of strategy and product management for Samsung Mobile. “Consumers want to stay connected and informed when they are on-the-go and the new release of Samsung’s TouchWiz technology keeps this vital content within just one touch of our powerful phones.”

Samsung Mobile also announced that UI Evolution was working on a set of developer tools that would allow for a fast and easy development of rich connected mobile applications. The Eclipse IDE will offer developers a custom interface with access to code samples, FAQ's and device emulation, as well as with submission of content on the Samsung Rich Connected Application storefront.

Samsung Mobile’s TouchWiz touchscreen phones also come with widgets such as Music player, Messaging, Games, Calendar, Clock or Alarm Clock. At the same time, carriers will be able to include specific widgets for access to their services. The company also announced that more touchscreen devices with TouchWiz technology were expected to be launched in the near future, as well as more connected mobile applications.
