South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics announced recently that it planned to enhance the user experience one can get from its Samsung I8910 HD (OMNIAHD, GT-I8910) handset. The improvements are set to arrive on the device via a firmware update that has been slated for release in January 2010, the company also revealed. The phone, as many of you might already know, is already a multimedia powerhouse, and it seems that Samsung plans on pushing it even further.

The upcoming software solution for the device will be delivered so as “to further improve the speed of multimedia performance and add new functionality to the device,” Samsung notes on its website. At the same time, the company adds that the new firmware update will come to users via PC Studio 7, the company's in-house software upgrade program. The handset's AMOLED screen and its 720P HD video recording and decoding capabilities should appeal even more to users after the upgrade.

The phone maker also notes: “The I8910 HD is Samsung’s ultimate multimedia powerhouse with high definition, giving users full-touch control of their multimedia lives. The new firmware improves the user experience by delivering faster Web browsing, an improved graphics engine and enhanced full-touch screen experience:
- Webkit update: A faster user-interface when online, for swift navigation of your favourite websites
- Graphic engine: An improved graphic engine, increasing the speed to access the multimedia content
- Kinetic scrolling: The addition of a kinetic scrolling system provides a superior full-touch experience.

Starting January 2010, Samsung I8910 HD owners in the UK will be able to enjoy the improved functionality the new firmware update is set to deliver. According to Samsung, the update will then come to users in other European markets, Southeast Asia, the Middle East Asia, Africa and rest of the world. Those who own an Omnia HD and would like to perform the update should make sure they have Samsung's PC Studio 7 installed on their computer (available via the company's website).
