According to the latest news on the Web, Verizon Wireless is set to launch, on May 11, another nice-looking mobile phone, the Samsung SCH-U750, also known as Alias 2. The most interesting feature of the upcoming device is a dynamic electronic ink keyboard called Magic Keypad, which replaces the dual QWERTY-numeric one that could be seen on the original Alias model.

The same as its predecessor, the new mobile phone also sports a slim body, while including a unique 2-way flip form factor, the Magic Keypad with electronic ink technology (it can change from a traditional keypad to a QWERTY one), and a 2.6-inch TFT display that can offer a 240×320 pixel resolution, and support for 262K colors as well as for 8 lines of text in portrait and 5 lines in landscape.

The specification list of the phone shows a 2.0-megapixel digital camera that features video recording capabilities and Night Shot, as well as a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage space, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS Enabled/ E911, Speakerphone, a 2.5mm headset jack and EVDO digital only.

The Samsung Alias 2 measures 4.01” x 2.04” x 0.67” and weighs 4.34 ounces with standard battery, while featuring support for Voicemail & visual voicemail, as well as for Mobile Web, Mobile Email, Mobile Web Mail, Mobile IM, Chat and VZ Navigator and being Chaperone Parent/Child capable.

It seems that Verizon Wireless will have the new QWERTY V CAST handset with a price tag of $79.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate. At the same time, the handset will also be available for purchase with a one-year contract at the cost of $149 after a $50 mail-in rebate. Free of contract, the device will set you back $249.
