THQ posted its financial earnings yesterday and, while the company is still in a difficult situation and was forced to delay several titles, it did emphasize the success of Saints Row 3: The Third and its more than impressive sales.

THQ hasn’t been going through the best of times in the last few months, as after selling its kids division and making some serious layoffs at many of its worldwide studios, a lot of people thought the company would simply go bankrupt sooner or later.

The publisher’s newest financial estimates don’t paint the happiest picture, but THQ chose to emphasize the huge success of Saints Row: The Third, the newest installment in the open world action franchise, which managed to ship over 4.25 million units globally.

“To date THQ has shipped more than 4.25 million units of Saints Row: The Third, which achieved an average Metacritic score of 83. The game has generated the highest digital revenue of any console title in the company’s history,” the company said.

This means that the franchise as a whole has shipped more than 11 million units globally, making it THQ’s most successful series.

Things will only get better, as the standalone Enter The Dominatrix expansion, which is out in September, is set to once again draw fans back to the franchise.

“The company announced a standalone franchise extension, Saints Row: The Third– Enter The Dominatrix,” THQ’s financial report said. “Scheduled for release in September 2012, the new story builds upon Saints Row’s signature over-the-top action by dropping the leader of the Saints in a diabolical virtual reality, and includes the most-requested gameplay features from the Saints Row community.”

While these are just the shipping figures for the Saints Row franchise and not the actual sales ones, it’s still great to hear that it managed to help out THQ during these troubled times.
