The first actual details about Saints Row 3, the third iteration in THQ's pretty popular open-world franchise, have been leaked onto the web over the weekend, with a series of images showcasing a lot of information about the upcoming title.

THQ's Saints Row franchise has often been called a clone of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto franchise, but, at least with the last iteration, Saints Row 2, the team at Volition showed that it can release a quality title, filled with adult humor and with a tongue-in-cheek approach to regular city life.

Now, THQ is getting ready to release Saints Row 3, having confirmed it a few weeks ago during an investors’ call.

As you may remember, not a lot of details were given, but, thanks to a new leak, the first pieces of information wound up on the Internet for all to see.

According to the images below, which are rumored to be part of the next issue of Game Informer magazine and appeared on the NeoGAF forums, the new game will be called Saints Row 3: The Third.

The slogan is a properly cheeky "Strap it on" while the release date specifies a holiday 2011 launch.

The images also show a scene at an airport, with what appears to be an older version of Saints Row veteran Johnny Gat, who helped the main protagonists of the first two games with running their criminal empire.

The images also show, in the background, a more modern version of Stillwater city, the location where all the action takes place.

Overall, the whole feel is that Stillwater and the 3rd Street Saints gang have really moved up in the world, so it's going to be interesting to see what implications this will have on the plot of the game.

Look forward to the actual official details later this week from THQ and Volition, but until then check out the leaked photos below.
