The third community technology preview of SQL Server 2012 codenamed "Denali" was made available for download approximately a week ago, and as usual, Microsoft provided additional resources for early adopters looking to test the new release. It is the case of the Product Documentation, but also of the Release Notes for SQL Server 2012 codenamed "Denali" CTP3.

Softpedia users have already been able to read about the Product Documentation and even to download the resources, but if they’re looking to start testing SQL Server 2012 codenamed "Denali" CTP3, it might be a good idea to also leverage the release notes.

“This Release Notes document describes known issues that you should read about before you install or troubleshoot SQL Server Code-Named “Denali” CTP3. This Release Notes document is available online only, not on the installation media, and it is updated periodically,” Microsoft reveals.

The Release Notes are focused on multiple aspects designed to streamline the testing process. In this regard, early adopters will be able to access information on the requirements of SQL Server 2012 codenamed "Denali" CTP3 before they actually deploy the release.

At the same time, the software giant is offering details on the Analysis Services, Data Quality Services, Database Engine, Integration Services, Master Data Services, Reporting Services, StreamInsight and upgrades.

Testers will also have highlighted a list of problems that the Redmond company is already aware of, but that remain unfixed as of CTP3.

“Installing SQL Server Code-Named “Denali” is supported only on Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. However, Setup does not block installing SQL Server Code-Named “Denali” on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2,” reads an excerpt out of the release notes.

In addition, SQL Server 2012 codenamed "Denali" CTP3 is also designed to play nice with Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2.
