The lens offers a 34mm focal length in 35mm equivalent format

Hong Kong based optics manufacturer SLR Magic announced today the addition of the 17mm T1.6 CINE wide-angle optic to their HyperPrime lens lineup, which now features seven ultra-fast cinematography lenses.

After this addition the full lens lineup for the HyperPrime series is as follows: 12mm T1.6 , 23mm f/1.7, 25mm T0.95, 26mm f/1.4 “Toy”, 35mm T0.95, and 50mm f/0.95.

The new SLR Magic 17mm T1.6 HyperPrime CINE is designed exclusively for MFT (Micro Four Thirds) cameras and comes with an ultra-fast T1.6 maximum aperture at a 34mm focal length in 35mm format equivalency.

The lens is aimed at photographers and videographers and comes with an integrated aperture and focus system. Moreover, the SLR Magic 17mm T1.6 HyperPrime CINE lens has a complex construction consisting of 12 elements in 10 groups and comes with a solid metal body weighing only 340g / 12oz.

Thanks to its silent, de-clicked manually controlled aperture ring, cinematographers will be able to set up the required aperture step-lessly and silently, making it perfect for soft scene transitions.

The lens also features a minimum aperture of T22, has a 52mm filter mount and measures 78.6mm in length and 59.3mm in diameter. Moreover, the minimum focus distance stands at 0.17m.

SLR Magic 17mm T1.6 HyperPrime CINE lens will be compatible with all Micro Four Thirds cameras including Olympus, Panasonic and Black Magic digital cameras.

SLR Magic 17mm T1.6 HyperPrime CINE lens will be available by the end of this month from various resellers around the world. Although many are curious of its retail price, the manufacturer said that they would announce it near to its release date.

In addition to that, for a limited time, the 17mm T1.6 HyperPrime CINE lens will be available bundled with the popular 35mm T1.4 at a special promotional price.
