British comedian Russell Brand is currently taking driving lessons, having decided the time had come for him to be able to drive his own car and not have to rely on someone else all the time. He’s also got an ace up his sleeve: meditation.

The star spoke to People magazine just recently and, asked about how his driving skills had improved in recent days, he said he was quite happy with how he was doing.

Brand, it would seem, has discovered just the thing to help him handle LA traffic: meditation. The actor says he’s meditating whenever he’s behind the wheel at class – so pedestrians in LA may as well beware, People jokes.

“Good,” Brand says, rating himself as a driver. “I’m using meditation to make me a better driver. I’m flowing down the freeways,” the comedian adds.

“I think meditation is good for everybody,” he says.

Meditation is helping him in more areas in his life than just with driving, and has come once he married the woman he describes as the love of his life, pop star Katy Perry.

Since he’s been with her, the former hellraiser is a calm man, at peace with himself and in harmony with everyone else. Still, he tells People, some things continue to get on his nerves.

“Like sometimes when the cat is cleaning the litter, he kicks quite a lot of litter onto the floor. Why?” the once-irreverent Brand says for the aforementioned publication.

Russell Brand can now be seen in “The Tempest,” a modern take on Shakespeare’s classic story. Dame Helen Mirren is also in it, alongside other talented stars like Alan Cumming, Djimon Hounsou, Alfred Molina and Ben Whishaw.

Russell and Katy Perry were married in a fancy ceremony in India in October. In an interview of earlier this year, Perry described her future husband as a combination of Jim Morrison, Charles Manson, Elvis Presley and Jesus.
