Special game

One of the videogames set to arrive in 2010 is Fallout: New Vegas, the spinoff developed by Obsidian for the game made by Bethesda. Since the official announcement last year, a very limited amount of details were offered about the new experience.

Now, a wealth of information about New Vegas appears to have leaked. A full detailed article about the title is set to appear in the upcoming issues of Game Informer but some of the info has made its way online before.

It seems that Obsidian is interested in creating a variety of background stories that the player can choose from in a manner similar to that seen in Dragon Age: Origins.

It appears that one of them will be labeled Lone Wanderer and will allow for full customization of the character while another one, called Chinese Agent, will cast the player in the role of an infiltrator who was caught by the atomic attack and now lives on as a ghoul. The level cap is said to be harder to reach, with no character able to be a jack of all trades, and new Perks will be introduced to reflect the various backgrounds and to show off new player abilities.

Obsidian is also introducing vehicles to Fallout mainly because of the wider area New Vegas is set to cover. The player will not be able to get around if they do not get access to one of the rather scarce means of transport scattered around. Players will be able to meet other vehicles on the road, as well as giant scorpions and other enemies. New Vegas, true to its nature, will also allow for the player to engage in a bit of gambling and some gladiatorial arena fights. This bears a lot of similarities to the canceled Van Buren project, so it could all be a hoax.

When contacted for comment, Bethesda delivered the usual “no comment” response, which seems to accompany all the rumors in the videogaming industry. Expect more information on Fallout: New Vegas to come, officially and off the record, as the year progresses.
