You can make your keyboard look however you want, complementing the backlight if present

I have just written about a certain Rosewill compact gaming keyboard that lets you choose the backlight color, and I have also said that things can got even further when it comes to color-coding.

I have also said that I'll check out the means to achieve that “logical extreme,” and here we are, beholding the Color Keycaps.

Rosewill must have decided it was too risky to launch a peripheral covered in all colors of the rainbow, or some of them.

So it chose to unveil a key set instead, and upped the ante by making the key set compatible with any keyboards that use Cherry MX Red switches.

And there are many of those out there, most not even belonging to Rosewill itself. Not a bad move in terms of marketing viability and prospective customer turnout.

There are 104 keys in the set, in five colors: red, green, blue, yellow and pink, of all things. We can only wonder what kind of kid rooms could be set up with a keyboard equipped with these things, and a mini system like, say, a NUC mini PC clad in this cool fanless NUC case

There is one thing that may go against the appeal of the new keycaps, however, and it's a big one: there doesn't seem to be support for backlight illumination. Ergo, the letters etched into the keys aren't translucent.
