Canadian mobile phone users can finally grab a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 handset from Rogers Wireless, as the carrier has recently announced the availability of the device. The Android-based phone is now listed on the company's website as available for pre-order, with a price tag set at $149.99 upon the signing of a 3-year agreement on a voice and data plan, and with a shipping date set for the ongoing week.

The handset was announced quite a while ago as being on its way to Rogers, but the carrier took its time before making it available. However, enthusiasts can now head over to the company's website and place their orders for Xperia X10. Users will be able to choose either a three-year contract agreement, which will bring the device for $149.99, or to purchase the device with no contract, case in which they will pay $549.99 for it (a 16GB microSD memory card is included in the package).

Here's what the carrier says about the phone: “4" hi-res touch screen? Check! 8.1MP camera? It's got it! Starting with its innovative Timescape feature which connects your Facebook, Twitter, and messages in one location. Followed with the Mediascape function where you'll discover all your photos, videos, and music together! All accessible with a press of the infinite button, the Xperia X10 from Sony Ericsson will help you enjoy it all.”

The specifications list for Xperia X10 includes GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and HSPA (850/1900/2100 MHz) connectivity options, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, a processor clocked in at 1GHz, 1 GB of internal memory, microSD memory card slot with support for 32 GB of additional storage space, not to mention the 4-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 854 pixels resolution. The mobile phone measures 119 x 63 x 13 mm and weighs in at 135 g.

Powered by Google's Android 1.6 operating system, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has already been announced to be upgradeable to newer flavors of the platform. One thing that won't come to it is support for multi-touch, as its maker already confirmed. Head over to Rogers' website here to learn more on this device or to place an order for it.
