Rogers Wireless has announced today that it will exclusively launch in Canada two new smartphones from the Taiwanese-based HTC, namely the Dream and Magic, the first two mobile devices in the world to run under Google's Android operating system. In addition, the two handsets will also be the first in Canada to come with said mobile platform.

“Who else but Rogers would be the first carrier to offer Canadians the first chance to join the mobile revolution with a choice of not one, but two, handsets powered by the Android platform?” said John Boynton, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Rogers Wireless. “The HTC Magic offers a responsive touch screen and the HTC Dream delivers both a touch screen and a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Both devices offer outstanding wireless internet search capabilities and a full suite of applications that run two times faster on Canada's fastest mobile network.”

As many of you might already know, the HTC Dream was the first handset to sport the Android platform, and was launched on the US market last year under the name of G1 with the mobile phone carrier T-Mobile, yet it has reached other countries as well, both as the G1 and as the HTC Dream. The second Google phone, the HTC Magic, has been recently released in Europe on Vodafone's airwaves and is also expected to come to the US market with T-Mobile.

The are a lot of features that the two handsets offer to Canadian mobile phone users, among which we can count a wide range of Google mobile services, such as Google Search, Google Maps or Gmail, and more. According to the wireless operator, both Android handsets are expected to be launched in the country as soon as June, 25, as the company's official website shows. More details on the launch will be offered in the near future, says Rogers, so stay tuned to learn more on this.
