Rock Band Blitz Out This Summer from Harmonix

Harmonix, the studio behind rhythm-based games like Rock Band or Dance Central, has just confirmed its next game, in the form of Rock Band Blitz.

As you can tell, it’s a new rhythm-based game, although in this one you don’t need clunky peripherals like in the regular Rock Band, or to dance in front of the Kinect, like in Dance Central.

Instead, the game mimics gameplay from older titles like Frequency and Amplitude, in which players need to press buttons to the rhythm of songs across multiple lanes.

Rock Band Blitz arrives with its own 25-song soundtrack but owners of previous Rock Band titles can easily import the tracks they bought as DLC for those games, and vice versa, meaning Blitz tracks can be played in Rock Band games.

The game is currently scheduled to appear on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as a downloadable experience, via PSN and XBLA.

Check out the game in action through the video above.
