In his most recent interviews, even in those taken before “The Twilight Saga” wrapped up with the final installment “Breaking Dawn Part II,” Robert Pattinson distanced himself from the frenzy, in a way. He’s still confused about how the franchise got so big.

In fact, he can’t understand the very people who helped him become one of the hottest stars of the moment, the so-called Twihards.

Speaking with Interview Germany, the British actor explains that he’s completely out of the loop with how fan culture “works.” He can’t even imagine how a day in the life of a Twihard is like.

“The real odd thing about this ‘Twilight’ target group is that they aren’t really teenagers. Most of them are older. ‘Twilight’ has its own parallel world, its own fan culture that has been forming on the net since day one,” Pattinson says.

“And in an intense way that has never existed before. Sometimes I ask myself what these masses of people do the whole day. They sit in front of their computers and comment on anything having even remotely to do with ‘Twilight’,” he continues.

“So it’s actually really exciting – at least up to point when I became part of that phenomenon,” the actor adds.

Of course, fans know that Pattinson was never the kind to mince his words on certain topics. He said repeatedly that he did not understand how “Twilight” became such a “thing” but stressed that he was happy it did because it provided him with opportunities he would not have had otherwise.

This time is different only in that he doesn’t mention that last part, but one could bet that he’s still feeling the same way.

In the same interview, Robert spoke of the “RPattz” (or “RPatz”) nickname he ended up with because of “Twilight.”

No surprise here, he still hates it.

“I’d like to strangle the guy who came up with it!” he is quoted as saying.
