Since the new “New Moon” trailer was premiered this Sunday at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Robert Pattinson’s ripped abs and nice pecs have been the talk of the town, as it was to be expected. As it turns out, rumor even had it that the gym-shy British star even used steroids to bulk up, a report co-star Kristen Stewart has recently denied, as Digital Spy can confirm.

According to the entertainment e-zine, the rumor came from “Twilight” fans who noticed that Pattinson seemed to have beefed up considerably between the first film and “New Moon,” a change they immediately attributed to him using steroids, since it’s a known fact that he doesn’t like going to gym and has said so himself on countless occasions. Not true, Stewart insists, who says Robert’s new look is all natural. “He’s definitely not on steroids. He’s jacked. It’s absolutely crazy.” Stewart is quoted as saying.

As we also reported the other day, Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob Black, the wolf, in the films and who famously had to pack almost 30 pounds of muscle with the help of heavy workouts and a change of diet in between the two movies, also insists that Pattinson is more ripped now. It was all because of Pattinson working out more now, Lautner said on the red carpet at the VMAs, speaking of a hypothetical shirt-off competition between him and his more popular with the fans co-star.

“I don’t know [who would win]. Rob, he’s getting some muscle. There’s some good competition. No, he definitely doesn’t need any pointers at all. He’s got it covered.” Taylor was telling the media on the red carpet about Pattinson’s look and whether the British star turned to him for advice on how to pack muscle mass faster to look good for the shirtless scene in Italy, as shown in the trailer.

As fans know, reports before that also had it that Pattinson’s lean look in the film was created with the help of good lighting and plenty of makeup, since the actor was not a fan of going to the gym. Clearly, having to do more action scenes in “New Moon,” as the trailer also shows, motivated him to get in better shape.
