Contrary to what rumors said as to Rihanna taking to the stage to make her musical comeback in the aftermath of the Chris Brown February incident, the singer will only return to live performing – now officially – on September 14. Jay Leno himself has announced the trio that will make up the musical guest for the premiere episode of his show, and it includes Rihanna, Jay-Z and Kanye West, Rolling Stone informs.

Since this is official, it also makes for the first performance that the “Umbrella” beauty will make ever since the February incident, when then-boyfriend attacked her over a phone message she should not have seen. Reports had it that Rihanna would make her music comeback earlier than this, sometime in May, during a private party where she had been asked to perform. As of now, she has not performed anywhere, and September 14 will mark her return to the stage, where she belongs.

“Jay Leno has locked up an impressive first musical guest for the September 14th premiere episode of The Jay Leno Show, as Jay-Z, Kanye West and Rihanna will all take the studio stage to perform the newest single of Jigga’s ‘The Blueprint 3,’ ‘Run This Town.’ Unless something major happens between now and September 14th, the performance on the Leno Show will also mark Rihanna’s first time holding a microphone onstage since her February 8th altercation with Chris Brown.” Rolling Stone writes.

The performance, which is already being hailed as a one-of-a-kind thing in the history of television and music for the major names involved in the collaboration, will take place a few days after Jay-Z releases “The Blueprint 3,” his latest, much anticipated album. The material also includes collaborations from Cudi, Drake and MGMT, and one track produced by Timbaland. However, Leno’s premiere episode will be the first time Jay-Z performs “Run This Town,” while also a first in terms of the “triumvirate” sharing the same stage together to perform.

Jay Leno is just as thrilled as fans are about this, Rolling Stone says. “Leno himself broke the news at the NBC Critics Association panel yesterday when discussing his new show, which jumps from late night to a daily prime-time slot at 10 p.m. ‘I always come on strong!,’ Leno told Access Hollywood after revealing the trio of stars would perform on his opening night.” the music-oriented publication writes.
